Cistern spring, Norris geyser basinvu 1558 foisLe bassin thermal de Cistern Spring est lié au geyser Steambot, situé plus haut. Lors d'éruption majeures du geyser Steambot, le bassin de Cistern Spring se vide. Les pins aux alentours du bassin thermal de Cistern Spring subissent l'action de cette source thermale, la zone étant inondée d'eau riche en silicates depuis 1965. Excelsior Geyser vu 1604 foisCet immense cratère, au fond duquel se trouve un lac d'eau turquoise bouillonnante, est la conséquence d'une violente éruption du geyser Excelsior en 1880 (le geyser a alors dépassé 90 m de haut). Les éruption de ce geyser ont cessé en 1890, pour reprendre un siècle plus tard, le 14 septembre 1985, pendant 47 heures. Personne ne sait quand surviendra sa prochaine éruption...
