Excelsior Geyser photo vue 2013 foisCet immense cratère, au fond duquel se trouve un lac d'eau turquoise bouillonnante, est la conséquence d'une violente éruption du geyser Excelsior en 1880 (le geyser a alors dépassé 90 m de haut). Les éruption de ce geyser ont cessé en 1890, pour reprendre un siècle plus tard, le 14 septembre 1985, pendant 47 heures. Personne ne sait quand surviendra sa prochaine éruption...
